Rob practices three days per week at Integrative Therapies in Greensboro, NC and Serendipity in Lexington, NC.
Integrative Therapies and Serendipity provide the following services:
QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) Brain Mapping
Electroencephalography (e-lec-tro-enceph-a-lo-graphy ~ EEG) is a neurological diagnostic procedure that records the changes in electrical potentials (brainwaves, Delta, Theta, Alpha & Beta) in various parts of the brain. The EEG is a recording of the electrical activity of the brain from the scalp, using digital technology, of electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp which primarily reflect cortical activity or "brainwaves". A multi-electrode recording of brain wave activity is recorded and converted into numbers.
A QEEG consists of placing a cap with twenty electrodes/sensors on the patient's head, and ear clips on each ear lobe. Each site is cleansed and electrode paste/gel is placed under each sensor to insure proper conductivity to read the patient's brainwaves. The recording is done while the patient is sitting in a chair. The patient is asked to relax with eyes closed and a second set of measures is taken with eyes opened. Preparation takes approximately 20-30 minutes and the actual EEG recordings take about 15 -20 minutes. QEEG Brain mapping is done using the New Mind Maps magnitude system
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback training, also referred to as EEG Biofeedback or Neurotherapy, is a form of operant conditioning during which the patient trains their own brainwaves. Neurofeedback presents the patient with real-time feedback on brainwave activity by sensors that are placed on the scalp. The sensors detect brain wave activity including Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta. When brain activity changes in the direction desired by the neurofeedback protocol, a positive "reward", typically in the form of a visual display and/or sound is given to the patient. Neurofeedback differs from other biofeedback techniques, in that the focus is on the central nervous system and the brain. Through the process of doing neurofeedback, the patient learns to train down or train up certain brainwaves associated with a variety of disorders (see Neurofeedback).
Biofeedback
Biofeedback is a non-invasive, non-medical technique in which people learn to use their own body's signals to improve their health. Biofeedback training teaches how to consciously change and control the body's vital functions that are normally unconscious, such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure, through information provided by electronic devices/sensors that take readings through a software program. This process gives the patient moment by moment information about their physiological conditions, of which they are normally unaware. Biofeedback measures often include heart rate, heart rate variance, respiration rate, skin conductivity, temperature and muscle tension.
Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES)
Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) involves the use of the Alpha StimĀ®, an FDA approved, small hand held device that delivers small electrical pulses, one milliampere (mA) or less, directly to the brain, using electrodes attached to the earlobes. Pulses are used to promote relaxation, sleep, and relieve some psychological and emotional conditions like depression and anxiety. CES is 100% safe.
Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE)
AVE is a technique that provides light pulses complimented by sound at specific frequencies, tones and beats, via a portable Audio-Visual Entrainment (light & sound therapy) device. Using flashes of lights and pulses of tones, AVE safely guides the brain into various brain wave patterns.
This stimulus connects with the brain at the specified frequency which can be programmed into the control device by the user. Typical brainwave frequencies are described as Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta. Each of these frequencies has a corresponding brain behavior associated with them. Alpha and Theta are associated with a dreamy languid state of mind and less focus, Beta is associated with a highly focused mind set and Delta is associated with a sleep state.
Based on the desired change in behavior the light and sound pulses enhance the production of the specific brain wave frequency targeting the desired behavior(s), settles down an agitated mind, increases cerebral blood flow and increases the metabolism of glucose in the brain for improved neuronal function. All of this activity adds up to improved mental performance. AVE treatment is provided with the DAVID Delight Pro from Mind Alive.
Free Consultation
For your first visit, we will provide you with a one hour free consult where we will assess the concerns that brought you to Serendipity and then explain our services that might be right for you. Depending upon the condition for which you are seeking help, we will provide you with a complimentary treatment during your initial visit. There is no obligation.

"I used to whiz through grading papers and took some pride in returning a set to a class, even of 30 students, within 24-48 hours. In the past few years I have slowed down so much I dread reading them and regret assigning them, It takes me days, and I find I can only read a few at a time without getting bored and distracted, certainly not as "fresh" as I like to be to appreciate each one.
Wednesday I got 31 3-4 page papers. They were done by 11 am Wednesday and I actually enjoyed reading them, even though the process was longer than before as I downloaded them from e-mail, wrote notes and a paragraph at the end using track changes, and mailed them back."

"Last night we drive home from Greensboro after a day of work, and usually we collapse, nap, and complain about lack of energy. I took off for errands in Lexington and came home and moved the front 40 bush grass. I cleaned closets and rearranged the exercise room. I was so happy, I want neurofeedback every day for life."

After four months of neurofeedback one to two times a week I saw a big improvement. The first thing that happened was her ability to go to sleep in about 30 minutes. Then, after failing end of the year testing she retook the test and passed!
Several months and a move to Texas later, my daughter is on half the medication previous. One does of stimulant in the morning, no more Zoloft. She is making C's and B's in math and has several close friendships.
I am really thankful that Robert Longo is developing his own practice in Neurofeedback as I have seen the improvements it has made in my daughter's life."

"Single most exciting new direction for future exploration: the neuroscience wave. Rob Longo is a treasure; you scored quite a coup finding him and bringing him in our midst."
